ESSER III Funding

What is ESSER III?
ESSER (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund) III is a third stimulus and emergency COVID relief funding stream authorized as a part of the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act that was enacted in March 2021. The allocation of funds, for public and charter schools, has been based on the proportional share of Title 1 funds. Of the total amount allocated to a school, a minimum of 20% must be set-aside to address learning loss through the implementation of evidence based interventions. The remaining funds may be utilized in a wide range of activities to address needs arising from the COVID-19 Pandemic.

How much funding will CCSC receive?
Through the ESSER III stimulus COVID relief fund, CCSC is eligible to receive up to $780,640.30. ESSER III funds must be encumbered (all approved activities accounted for) by no later than September 30, 2024. Final claims for reimbursement must be made by no later than December 15, 2024.

What is the plan for utilizing the funds?
While CCSC has identified a preliminary plan for the use of ESSER III funds, the school corporation continues to accept input on how best to expend the funds. Individuals wishing to submit an item for consideration may do so by completing the form found by using this link ESSER III USE. Items for use currently contained in the preliminary plan include providing staff stipends related to work beyond the identified scope, renovation of student restrooms, social and emotional programming coordination, remediation and learning loss instruction, renovation of nurses clinic, data management software (to be utilized to assist with the identification of student learning loss), cleaning and sanitizing supplies, and the purchase of classroom desks.
