The Covington Girl’s Soccer team got their second win of the season last night against a physical Western Boone team. The game winning goal was scored by Erica Estes! The girls play again on Thursday at North Putnam.
Congratulations to the Covington boys tennis team for winning the Wabash River Conference by defeating Attica 5-0 last night. The Trojans finished with a perfect 5-0 conference record and have a 9-0 overall season record.
Varsity winners were Calvin Springer, Nolan Potter, Myles Potter, Emmett Reynolds, Peyt Shumaker, Carson Schaeffer, and Aiden Miller.
There will be a brief meeting at the beginning of homeroom in the Annex TODAY for current FFA members.
Boy’s Basketball — There will be a meeting in Mr. Morgan’s room today during Home Room.
There will be a “call-out” meeting TODAY during Home Room in Mr. Heggs classroom for anyone interested in participating in this year’s school play.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Each day 45 children in the U.S. are diagnosed with cancer. Join with the CHS cheerleaders and Seeger High School to honor Pine Village Elementary student, Garrett Kiefer, who was diagnosed with cancer and has been courageously fighting this disease.
Please wear gold or yellow- the color of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month- to show support for the Keifer family at the football game against Seeger on Friday, September 17th.
During the game, Seeger will be collecting donations that will go directly to the Kiefer family as they continue to battle Garrett’s cancer. Here at CHS, we will be collecting money to donate on Friday. Please consider dropping a few dollars into your grade’s jar on Officer Cates’ desk this week. The grade with the most money at the end of the week will get a special prize.

The 30th annual Covington Apple Fest will be held on Saturday, September 25. Contestants are now being sought for the Queen Pageant. Any boy in grades 6-8 who wants to play basketball this year is welcome to attend our pre-season basketball workouts? These will take place at 6:45 a.m. – 7:30 a.m. in the high school gym on Mondays and Thursdays.

Donations may be dropped off between September 27th and October 8th at the following locations during regular business hours: Centre Bank, 315 Washington Street Covington City Building, 329 Washington Street Covington Public Library, 622 Fifth Street Covington County Market, 301 Third Street First Church of Christ Office, 619 Fifth Street Industrial Federal Credit Union, 413 Washington Street McDonald’s, 221 Pearl Street Old National Bank, 401 Washington Street Purdue University Extension Office, Lower Level of Court House, 301 Fourth Street The Fountain Trust Company, 615 Third Street Weather permitting, a coat collection day is scheduled October 9th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm outside Casey’s General Store, 311 Pearl Street. Coats will be distributed to area residents in need on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last October 19th through 22nd at the Covington First Church of Christ, 615 Fifth Street. The coat give-away is being hosted by the First Church of Christ. Additional information is available from the coat drive coordinator at (765) 793-7285.

If your child has congestion, runny nose, cough, sore throat, fever, or headache please do NOT send them to school. They will be sent home. Please plan a minimum of 48 hours and then call the attendance line with a full report before sending them back to school. The attendance line may be utilized 24/7. Thank you for your cooperation. Please leave a detailed message on the attendance line for absences including symptoms; otherwise, the Nurse will be calling you back.
We need a proof of residency. Please bring in a document (ex: utility, cell phone, hospital bill) with your current address, you may also send it in with your child.
CROSSING GUARDS AND CAR RIDER DOORS WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM 7:50 – 8:00 IN THE MORNING. After this time, please drive around to the front of the building to drop off your child for school.
TRANSPORTATION CHANGES NEED TO BE SENT TO THE CHILD’S TEACHER. WE WILL NOT ALLOW STUDENTS TO CHANGE HIS/HER REGULAR ROUTINE WITHOUT A NOTE OR PHONE CALL TO THE OFFICE. THIS IS FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR CHILD/REN.
