    Covington High School Announcements

    Our CHS Lady Trojan golfers competed in their first ever Sectional at Harrison Hills on Saturday finishing 7th out of 10 teams with an 18 hole total of 481. Congratulations to Corinne Moore as she advances to the Regionals with and individual score of 96. She will be playing Saturday at Smock Golf Course in Greenwood. Also scoring for the Trojans was Audrey Galloway with 120, Lidia Hanson 129, Taylor Woodard 136, and Olivia McGurk 138. Great job by our ladies!

    See You At The Pole is this Wednesday, September 25 at 7 AM at the flagpole. Come join us. Afterwards there will be donuts, milk, and juice.

    “The wrestling team will be playing paint ball on Saturday, Oct. 5 up in Attica. Any CHS student who thinks they might wrestle is welcome to join the team on Oct. 5.
    There is a sheet in the front office to sign up for this trip.”

    There will not be any after school snacks for athletes today.

    Josten’s will be here today during lunch and from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm
    for Freshman to order class rings and Seniors to order Graduation announcements and
    Cap and Gowns. They will be in the student lounge.

    Homecoming football game on Friday with South Newton will start at 7:30 pm.

    “This week, the Marching Trojans are going to raffle the opportunity to conduct them as they play Onward, Trojans this Friday at the Homecoming Game. Tickets are $2 and being sold in the front office. The guest conductor will be drawn at the beginning of the first quarter on Friday night.”

    There will be a Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball meeting in Mr. Ballard’s room on Monday,
    September 30 during Homeroom.

    Attention Seniors: This year we will be doing senior denim. You can decorate a denim clothing item and wear it to school on Homecoming Friday and to the homecoming game as part of the dress up day. If you would like more information, please contact either Madi Kilby or Abby Swaney.


    Homecoming Pep Session downtown on Friday, September 27 starting at approximately 2:20 pm.

    Homecoming Parade: If you would like to place an entry in the Homecoming Parade,
    please contact or call the high school office 793-2286. Deadline date for entries
    is Wednesday, September 25. Lineup at the park at 4:30 and parade at 5:00.

    The Kiss the Pig Contest is on! Jars for senior football players will be in the office throughout the week starting Monday! Bring in your loose change to vote for who you want to lay a big smooch on a pig at the pep session Friday! The player with the most money at the end of the week will have the honors.
    An additional jar has been put out for Mr. McCormick. If there is $75 in his jar by the end of the week, he will have to kiss the pig as well!

    The Annual Powderpuff games will be on Wednesday, September 25th beginning with a face-off between the Freshmen and the Juniors at 6pm! Seniors will compete against sophomores immediately after. Cost of admission is $1.00 – sports passes will not be accepted. Players, coaches, and students wearing their class shirt/class color will get into the game free!

    Citizens Scholarship Hog Roast on Homecoming night in the CHS Cafeteria from 5:00 to 6:30 pm.
    Adults $8.00 and kids $6.00. Pork and Beef Sandwiches by Huli-Huli. Also Hashbrown Casserole,
    Green Beans, Pretzel Salad Cookies, Tea and Lemonade. All proceeds go to scholarships.

    This Month
    The Cross Country team is selling T shirts, T shirt Hoodies, and sweatshirts in various color options. Please see any Cross Country runner to purchase. Order forms are also available on Mrs. Gee’s desk in the atrium. Payment must be made when ordering.

    The Covington Varsity/JV Volleyball teams will be hosting a Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser the night of the home Attica game, Thursday, October 3rd, 2019, at 6 pm, in the Covington Varsity Gym.
    Special “GO FOR THE KILL: BEAT BREAST CANCER” T-shirt orders are being taken until Friday, September 27th: Cost of the shirts is $14 for short sleeved and $17 for long sleeved. Forms are available in the school offices.

    There is a Registration Form in the office for the Halloween Hustle 5K/10K on Saturday, October
    26 at 9:00 am at the Covington Circle Trail.

    The 2019 Yearbooks have arrived. Graduates may pick them up from Mrs. Gee.

    After school snacks for high school fall athletes will be handed out in the
    Student lounge Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday each week.

    The City of Covington is collecting new and gently used winter coats (adult and children
    sizes) for its annual coat give-away this fall.
    As before, we especially need children’s washable coats sizes infant
    through 16, and all sizes of coats for men and women.”
    Coats may be brought to the City Building, 1329 Second Street, between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm
    (EDT) weekdays. The city is also accepting monetary donations for the purchase of winter


    Any junior or senior interested in meeting with a representative from one of the following college should sign up on the google sheet that was shared with you from Mrs. Brown.
