    Covington High School Announcements

    Today

    There will be a student council meeting today during homeroom in Mrs. Martin’s room (middle school room 106).

    Our CHS Girl’s Golf team competed in Day 1 of the WRC tournament yesterday at South Vermillion. They shot a team score of 237, good for 4th place at the moment. Corinne Moore is individually tied for 5th with a 53, Audrey Galloway is tied for 9th with a 56. Olivia McGurk and Lidia Hanson scored 64, and Aubrey Stonecipher shot 66. The final round will be played today at Geneva Hills near South Vermillion. Go Lady Trojan Golfers!!!

    Seniors: You must return all committee lists today to receive information about committee activities.

    If you have lost a watch, please check with Mrs. Linville in the office.

    High School pictures will be taken on Tuesday, August 27. Seniors will need to get their picture taken for an ID card. Seniors will not need to purchase pictures. The photographers will be set up and ready at 7:30 am for Vocational students in the Library Glass room. You may order online at Inter-State.com/order and use the code 40159CB. Extra picture forms are in the office.

    Senior Fall Athletes: we are extending the deadline for baby pictures until Monday, Aug 26. Students need to email the pictures at covingtontrojansboosters@gmail.com

    There will be a Fellowship of Christian Athletes 5th quarter after the football game Friday night at the football field. All high school and middle school students invited.

    SAT School Day will be Wednesday, October 16th (which is an E-Learning Day). Any senior interested in taking the SAT that morning at Covington High School should sign-up in the guidance office. The cost is $49.50. Checks should be made payable to Covington High School and given to Mrs. Linville. Fee Waivers are available if certain criteria are met – see Mrs. Myers with questions. The due date for registration and payment is September 18th.

    We are looking for student tutors! Sign-up in the guidance office if interested.

    After school snacks for high school fall athletes will be handed out in the
    Student lounge Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday each week.

    FCA Wednesday morning breakfasts will start on Wednesday, August 28th at 7am in Coach Sowers’ room. All middle school and high school students are welcome to come!

    The City of Covington is collecting new and gently used winter coats (adult and children
    sizes) for its annual coat give-away this fall.
    As before, we especially need children’s washable coats sizes infant
    through 16, and all sizes of coats for men and women.”
    Coats may be brought to the City Building, 1329 Second Street, between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm
    (EDT) weekdays. The city is also accepting monetary donations for the purchase of winter
    coats.

    Covington High School Athletic Department will be hosting the 1st Annual
    All Sports Golf Scramble on Sunday, September 22. Start time is 1:00. It
    is a Fundraiser to support all Covington High School and Middle School Athletic programs. Entry forms are available in the high school office.

    Colts Player Night/Tailgate meal Friday, Sept. 13 at the Trojan Complex for any Trojan fan 4:45-6:30.

    $1/person.  All food, drinks, table service provided.  Bring your chairs and come eat!  Players wear Colts jersey and get into game free.  Meet at North end of bleachers to make a tunnel for high school players before game.  Colts Players will also be introduced at halftime on the field.

     Coat distribution will take place October 1st through January 31st from 8:00 am to

     4:00 pm (EST) weekdays, at the City Building, while coat supplies last.

     In 2018, the city distributed approximately 400 coats to area residents in need.

    School begins at 8:05a.m.release of students at 2:55p.m.

    SCHOOL PICTURES WILL BE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27TH.

    CROSSING GUARDS WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM 7:45 – 8:00 IN THE MORNING. If you arrive at school after this time, please drive around to the front of the building to drop your child off for school. Car line and Walker doors are locked after 8:05a.m.

    BIRTH CERTIFICATES AND SHOT RECORDS are due in the office ASAP!

    REGISTRATION FORMS for the PK 4 year old class at CES are available. Students must be 4 years of age on or before August 1st.

    TRANSPORTATION CHANGES NEED TO BE SENT TO THE CHILD’S TEACHER. WE WILL NOT ALLOW STUDENTS TO CHANGE HIS/HER REGULAR ROUTINE WITHOUT A NOTE OR PHONE CALL TO THE OFFICE. THIS IS FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR CHILD/REN.

    When entering CES, please do so at the MAIN ENTRANCE ONLY and CHECK IN AT THE OFFICE. Thank you!

    TREATS BROUGHT IN FOR THE STUDENTS NEED TO BE PRE-PACKAGED FROM A STORE.

    Please continue to send in BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION. However, we DO NOT take Campbell labels for education.

    BACKGROUND CHECKS for parents wanting to go on field trips can be obtained through the school website under the Superintendent’s tab. There is a fee for the process. Background checks are good for 2 years.

    For the safety and the enjoyment of all that attend Covington High School football games, Covington Elementary School students will not be allowed to run and play everywhere around the complex during games. If your child is not sitting in the bleachers, he/she will only be allowed to run and play in the grassy area north of the main home bleachers. Please understand this is not a supervised area. You are still responsible for the behavior and safety of your child. Thank you for your help in making sure our students stay safe and our fans enjoy the game.

    CES will be taking names of students who will need after school care. Please call the office with days and times that you will need for your child. There is a possibility that we will not be able to have this program due to lack of interest.
