Covington High School Announcements

Today

All NHS students should meet in Mrs. Willis’s room during homeroom today. This is a mandatory meeting. If you plan to attend the Ivy Tech meeting, you should still plan to go to NHS first.

A representative from Ivy Tech – Lafayette will be here today during homeroom.

There will be a Fellowship of Christian Athletes 5th quarter / karaoke night in the Multi-Purpose Room tonight after the basketball game. Come join us.

FFA members sign up your team for Sunday’s tournament. All members are invited, special prize drawings, music, and pizza. 5:30 – 7:30. Come celebrate national FFA week.

This Week

FFA members it’s time to team up for the for our annual corn-hole tournament. Feb 17th from 5:30-7:30. Who will be this years tournament champions? Sign up using the google form in your school email.

Any student interested in working at Hershey’s Drive-In this year, please sign up in the office.

Hometown Market in Veedersburg is hiring cashiers. Please see Mrs. Willis for an application.

This Month

The 61st annual Covington High School Honor Banquet is Thursday, March 14th. Tickets are on sale now through March 8th in the HS Guidance Office. Cost is $15.00 each. Honor students receive complimentary tickets, however guests of honor students must purchase tickets. Due to the overwhelming number of attendees, seats will be assigned and students will sit with their parents.

Covington Crazy Clovers 4-H Club will be having their first meeting Tuesday, February 19, at 6pm in Miss Davis’s room.

The DACC Foundation Scholarship Application is currently open. Interested seniors should read the email from Mrs. Myers or see Mrs. Myers ASAP. The deadline is 5:00 pm (Central Time), February 19th.

Snacks will be available after school every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for any Winter athlete who would like one. They will be passed out in the hallway by the locker rooms from 3:00 to 3:05pm.

Baseball workouts every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30 pm. Players need to meet outside the training room.

Any student interested in taking the driving portion of drivers ed here this summer, please sign up in the guidance office. You must be 15 by April 26th to enroll.

2018/2019 yearbooks are on sale. You can either visit yearbookforever.com or see Mr. Sowers for a paper order form.

Guidance:

The 2019-2020 FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid) is now open. Any senior planning on continuing their education after high school should plan on filing the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Covington Crazy Clovers 4H Club will have its 1st meeting on Tuesday, February 19th at 6:00 pm in Ms. Davis room.

CMS is participating in Pennies for Patients all week. All proceeds from Pennies for Patients go directly to help kids living with cancer and to help fund cancer research. You have the opportunity to help out in two ways: you may purchase candy from Mrs. Short all week for $1 during passing period before Target time and you may bring in money to your first classroom teacher (6th grade will take their money to their 1st period teachers, while 7th and 8th grade will take their money to their 2nd period teacher). The class that brings in the most money will win a pizza party! CMS Honor Society and Student Council have set a school goal to raise at least $750 for these heroes living with cancer.

Tektons — Planning Groups are scheduled to meet with Mrs. Girdler during Target Time on the following dates.

7th and 8th Grade — This is your time to apply for a scholarship that could pay up to 4 years of tuition to an eligible Indiana college/university. See Mrs. Girdler for assistance.
