The Covington Community School Corporation School Board met in special session on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. The meeting was conducted in alignment with social distancing guidelines.
During the business portion of the agenda the board: • Approved the following hires: o Moira Spohn, CES Summer School Instructor – 2021 o Thomas Weeks – Barnitt, CHS English Instructor o Deena Martin, CMS Instructor o Jill Deel, CMS MI Resource Instructor o Amy Fawbush, CES Instructional Aide o Rachel Cotten, Assistant Tennis – 2021 o Staci Stultz, Cross Country Coach – 2021 o Tracie Allen, Summer Custodial and Maintenance Worker o Chase Allen, Summer Custodial and Maintenance Worker o Abigail Allen, Summer Custodial and Maintenance Worker o Louis Myers, Summer Custodial and Maintenance Worker o Amy Clem, Summer Custodial and Maintenance Worker o Shelby Pineda, Summer Custodial and Maintenance Worker o Joshua Coffing, Summer Custodial and Maintenance Worker o Alex Rodgers, Summer Custodial and Maintenance Worker • Approved the following transfer: o Meghan Hall, Special Education (MoMH) Instructor (2021 – 2022) • Accepted the following resignations: o Dave Allen, CHS Instructional Aide o Amber Thompson, CMS Instructor o Tyler Scott, CMS Instructor o Cathy Busick, CHS Temporary Instructor • Approved the following maternity leave: o G.B. Batley, CES Speech Instructor • Received an update on the progress of the athletic complex rest room project from construction manager Randy Grubbs, of the River Group. • Approved a proposal for the placement of a concrete pad at the new rest room and concession stand location. • Received an update regarding buildings and grounds projects from Mike Howard. o Preparations for the placement of new carpet in the hallways of the high school and elementary school are underway. • Approved two requests for out – of – district student transfers.
• Received the proposed building level handbooks under the first reading process. • Approved a resolution allowing the superintendent to apply for an extension of the approved flexibility waiver received from the state board of education during the 2020 – 2021 school year. • Learned that the IEERB has identified the 2020 – 2021 Collective Bargaining Agreement as compliant. • Reviewed and approved the 2022 Budget Calendar. • Approved non – certified employee pay for the two school calendar flexibility days of May 27 and May 28, 2021. • Approved proposed textbook fees for the 2021 – 2022 school year. • Approved the acceptance of an anonymous donation for the automotive CTE facility. • Approved a proposal for the purchase of hardware and software which would enhance event streaming capabilities.
The board is in the process of identifying two meetings dates for the month of July, with one serving as a working session. Thank you for your support of our children and of the Covington School – Community.
