Coaches, Athletes, and Community Members,
released a couple of updates yesterday. One of their press releases identified
May 1, 2020 as our new spring sports start date. We hold out hope that we will
get at least a small portion of our 2020 spring sports season played, and we
will move forward accordingly. Please find below a summary of yesterday’s press
releases by the IHSAA.

respect to IHSAA By-Law 15 that Commissioner Cox referenced, we will be
operating under the “During the School Year – Out of Season” policy for our
current spring sports. This means that our athletes may practice with non-school
teams and it will not compromise their eligibility if we do indeed return to
play on May 1 with our school teams. If we are able to begin our spring seasons
on May 1, each CHS student-athlete would be required to complete five practices
prior to competition.

with great sadness and disappointment that we inform Hoosiers of the
cancellation of the remaining games of the 2020 IHSAA boys basketball
tournament series,” said IHSAA Commissioner Bobby Cox. “While the Association
maintained every hope of continuance, it is now evident those hopes are now
unreachable. Albeit there will not be regional, semi-state and state champions
crowned across our four classifications, the health and safety of our public
remains paramount and our primary focus.”
Friday (March 13), the IHSAA announced the remaining games of the state
tournament would be postponed beginning with the regional games due to the
growing number of school closures.
