To: Graduates, Parents, Families, and Community Members From: Covington High School Re: Graduation
We appreciate your support of our graduation this year and your understanding of decisions having to be so last minute. Graduation is still being planned as an outdoor event at the Complex on Saturday, July 11 at 10 A.M. Students and the stage will be on the field. Families of graduating seniors only may bring lawn chairs or blankets and sit behind the students on the field. This area will be marked on the field. The bleachers will also be open for guests that are not a part of the immediate family of the graduate as well as family members that prefer the bleachers. Social distancing should be followed and masks are recommended.
In the event that we have rain on Saturday morning or if rain on Friday prevents us from getting the stage set up, we will have the graduation ceremony in the varsity gym. If this has to happen, we will be required to follow the guideline of no more than 250 people in the gym. Each graduate will only be allowed two guests to watch graduation. Graduates will be given two tickets at practice. No one else will be allowed in the gym to watch graduation. We know this isn’t ideal, so we will do everything in our power to hold the graduation ceremony outside so that everyone can attend. However if we are inside, there will be no exceptions.
Due to the forecast of rain on Friday morning, graduation practice will be held at the High School. Graduates should be dressed appropriately and bring masks.
If you plan to attend graduation, we ask that you check your health status against the COVID-19 checklist prior to leaving home. If symptoms are present, we respectfully ask that you not attend graduation. The following is the COVID-19 checklist:
● A fever of 100.4° F or greater ● Cough ● Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing ● Chills ● Repeated shaking with chills ● Muscle pain ● Headache ● Sore throat ● New loss of taste or smell
