To: Students, Staff, Parents, and School -Community Members Fr: Kevin Smith, Superintendent Su: 2018 -2019 School Accountability
On Wednesday, March 4, 2020, the State Board of Education approved the 2018 – 2019 School Accountability Grades, with a hold harmless guidance providing no school would have a grade lower than that of their 2017 – 2018 results. Covington Community School Corporation had two schools – the high school and the elementary school – that earned an ‘A’.
Having two schools identified as ‘A’ educational facilities is a great accomplishment. The high school ‘A’ grade was the first such grade in quite some time for the facility, while the elementary school continued their long run as an ‘A’ facility. Congratulations to the students and staff of these schools for their work in being ranked as a “Best of the Best” school.
I also want to recognize the students and staff of the middle school for their work in attaining a positive accountability result for 2018 – 2019. CMS earned a ‘B’ letter grade for the year, an indication of the focus provided in the classroom to provide rigorous and relevant learning opportunities for the child.
The Covington school – community is blessed to have an outstanding group of educators, building leaders, and students providing a laser focus on ensuring Educational Excellence”. It is an honor to have the opportunity to serve this glorious school -community.
Thank you for all you do on behalf of our children.
