In keeping with our commitment to provide the “Best of the
Best” leadership for our educational facilities, I am excited to announce Mr.
Ryan Sowers as the new Covington Middle School Dean of Students. Ryan has also been named as Covington
Community School Corporation’s Social and Emotional Programming
Coordinator. Please join me in
congratulating Mr. Sowers.
Mr. Sowers has served our children as a Special Needs
Instructor since 2008, representing the school corporation, as well as the
Wabash River Special Services Cooperative.
He is entering his 12th season as Covington soccer coach,
with five years of experience as softball coach.
During his time in education Ryan has established a level of
commitment to serve the child that is second to none. He has earned the respect of students,
parents, and peers, while providing love and care to all, through a laser focus
on servant leadership.
Mr. Sowers earned his Bachelors Degree from Charleston
Southern University where he majored in Communication and minored in Religion. Ryan
has an Associate of Arts Degree from Parkland College.
He currently serves as the Minister at Wallace Christian
Church, Wallace, Indiana.
Ryan and his wife Cari are the proud parents of four
children, Sarah (9), Javy (7), Marin (6), and Allie (5). They reside in Covington.
Mr. Sowers will transition to his new role on Tuesday,
August 27, 2019.
He will report to Covington High School Principal Alison
Karrfalt in his role as CMS Dean of Students, while reporting directly to me in
the role of SEL Coordinator. Further,
Ms. Karrfalt will assume responsibility for curriculum and instruction for the
Ms. Trish Edwards, Special Needs Instructor, will be overseeing
the Wabash River Special Services Cooperative MO and MI programs. Mr. Sowers will continue to be involved with
the program, assisting Ms. Edwards through the remainder of the first semester.
I am confident the children of Covington will benefit from the
commitment to excellence Mr. Sowers will bring to this new role. Further, I appreciate the selfless example
Ms. Karrfalt and Ms. Edwards have represented during the identification of the
transition plan. We are all blessed to
