Job Summary
The role coordinates and directs the
work of food service personnel in preparing nutritious meals in accordance with
state and federal guidelines for students and staff, while ensuring a safe and
clean environment for cooking, serving, and working. Further, the role is responsible to ensure
all health department regulations are met.
The ideal candidate will:
Hold a high
school diploma, or General Education Diploma (GED);
Have a minimum of
3 – 5 years of proven success in the food services industry;
Be able to work
well with others from diverse backgrounds, through the use of positive and
effective interpersonal skills;
Have the ability
to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole
numbers, common fractions, and decimals, including the ability to compute rate,
ratio, percent, and volume;
Have a general
knowledge of computer usage and the ability to utilize e-mail, internet
software, and word processing software;
Have a proven
record of successfully leading a food services staff;
Have the ability
to attain certifications as determined by the school district and / or state of
Indiana, such as CPR/First Aid certification; and
Have the skillset
to effectively communicate across various levels, students, parents, peers,
administrators, and school – community members.
The individual selected for this role
will be expected to:
Put the needs of
children first, foremost, and at all times;
Comply with all
rules and regulations as set forth in Board policy;
Know and
understand Federal guidelines for the Child Nutrition Program, while ensuring
compliance;
Know and follow
all safety and sanitary rules and regulations related to the handling of food;
Ensure the
effective management of food inventory, orders and purchases, in accordance
with food service provider contracts;
Order, receive,
and verify supply delivery and accuracy, with the rotation into existing food
stock;
Maintain accurate
inventory records;
Ensure freezers,
refrigerators, dishwashers, and other food services equipment are maintained in
proper operating order, including temperature and sanitation standards;
Lead the food
services staff;
Cook
and serve student/staff meals;
Maintain
a high standard of personal cleanliness and proper grooming as per sanitation
code;
Maintain
a working knowledge of all equipment utilized for the preparation and serving
of food/meals;
Serve
as a cashier, collecting money, making change, and counting totals, with the
entering of data into the computer system, as necessary;
Identify
and maintain an accurate electronic records system;
Completes
and files appropriate paperwork…ie…logs, forms, etc… required by the school
district, state, and federal government, in a timely manner;
Provide
assistance for meals related to the needs of special diets;
Professionally
represent the school district at all times when interacting with students,
parents, staff, and school – community members;
Report
safety concerns and hazards immediately to supervisor;
Maintain
the appropriate certifications and training hours as required;
Comply
with applicable school district, state, local, and federal laws, rules, and
regulations;
Attend
work regularly and on time;
Evaluate
all food services staff members;
Identify
and coordinate a summer meals program, as identified;
Attend
meetings, in – service, staff, etc…;
Serve
as a back-up for other food services staff;
Respond
to requests for special food service needs (field trips, etc…);
Conduct
daily banking, per corporate guidelines;
Manage
free and reduced documentation and information;
Report
issues to authorities, as necessary; and
Perform
other duties as assigned by the superintendent.

Bachelors Degree
Current and valid Indiana teaching license, applicable for grades 6 – 8
Ability to comply with school corporation policy, while providing instruction for middle school students
Ability to perform other duties, as directed by the building principal

CCSC – Instructional Aides
Instructional Aides
Covington Community School Corporation anticipates
having openings for instructional aides for the 2020 – 2021 school year. Potential needs would be for the general (all
schools) and the music (elementary school) classrooms. Instructional aides work to assist the
licensed instructor in ensuring rigorous and relevant educational opportunities
are provided to our children, while also performing other duties as identified
by building administration.
Hours Per Week – 15 – 29.5
Pay – Based on the CCSC Instructional
Aide Hourly Pay Scale
Requirements:
Position may require the individual to
hold, or be able to obtain, a Highly Qualified designation.
