In keeping with our commitment to provide a laser focus on the needs of our children, staff, and school-community, I am pleased to introduce Mr. Mike Howard as Covington Community School Corporation’s new Director of Operations. In this role, Mike will be responsible to oversee the facilities, maintenance, transportation, grounds, and safety segments of school operations. Mike will begin his new role on Monday, February 24, 2020. He will report directly to me.
Mr. Howard has spent the past 27 years serving in a diverse set of operational roles, including the public school sector. Most recently, Mike held the title of Director of Extended Services: Departments of Maintenance, Grounds, Custodial, Transportation, and Environmental Health and Safety for Clay Community School Corporation. Previously, he served Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology as Director of Operations – Facilities Department and as Director of Environmental Health and Safety.
Mike also spent 10 years working in health and safety for TRW Automotive in Marshall, Illinois.
He earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Occupational Safety Management and a Masters of Science degree in Occupational Safety Engineering and Management from Indiana State University.
Mike and his wife Lori are the proud parents of three children Michael (20), Garrett (17), and Lacey (12). They reside in Terre Haute.
I am confident the children, staff members, and school-community of Covington will benefit from the commitment to excellence Mr. Howard will bring to his new role. We are all blessed to have him as a member of our school-community.
