News from our Principal, Mrs. Beck..
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone back. The 2019-2020 school year is off to a productive start and I am very excited to see what the future holds. We have added three new classroom teachers and two instructional aides to our staff. Please help me in welcoming Kenzie Brazas, Barbi Hunt, Chelsea Taylor, Scott Heatherton, and Emily Jackson!
Here at the elementary we have extended our swim program to encompass grades 2-4. During this time the children are either learning how to swim or learning proper swim technique. Most importantly, all 2nd – 4th students are learning critical life saving strategies in the case of an emergency.
Technology is up and in full swing here at CES. All students grades 3-5 now have their own personal device to aide in their studies. Classroom practice and on-line projects can now be accessed at home. Grade K-2 also have laptops within their classroom for individual use. In order to help manage and protect those devices our lower grade students will leave their Chromebooks at school.
Grandparents Day will be October14th. We are working together with our fabulous PTO to rework the structure of this special day for our grandparents. Everyone is excited for this change and look forward to the time we will spend with our visitors. I would also like to thank CES PTO for our new playground swings which are soon to come!
This year we will also be implementing the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program here at Covington Elementary. This lab time will prepare students for the future through hands-on project-based learning.
I look forward to my new role here at Covington Elementary and to working with the parents and students of our community.
