Health Services:
The nurse's office is located between the High School and Middle School, just North of the High School library. Nursing services are provided for students and staff throughout the entire day.

Along with monitoring general health, the school nurse is responsible for state mandated testing, which includes height/weight, scoliosis, vision and hearing. The testing will be done throughout the school year on grade appropriate students. Parents/guardians will be notified if further evaluation needs to be done by a health care professional. These numbers are then reported to the Indiana Department of Education.

The school nurse will also provide parents/guardians with current information and guidelines regarding immunization requirements. Please contact the school nurse with any questions or concerns, or visit our web site for updates or changes.

Please do not send your child to school if running a fever, vomiting or if you believe they have a contagious illness. Our main concern is keeping our students healthy, a well balanced diet and plenty of rest is their main defense against illness.
Going Home Due to Illness:
Students who become ill and request to go home must first report to the Nurse's Office; receive parent permission; and sign out in the Office. Students will not be allowed to leave without parent permission. Leaving school due to illness, verified by parent is counted toward the eight-day limit.
Students Sent Home Due to Illness:
Occasionally a student's illness reaches a degree where the Nurse requests the student to return home. Except for special circumstances, this is generally limited to those students either vomiting or running a fever. Leaving school because the Nurse sent you home is not counted toward the eight-day limit.
Medication Procedures:
If students require the taking of medication while at school, the following guidelines must be observed:
(1) All medication must be given to the Nurse or designee and kept in the Nurse's office.
(2)Prescription medications must be in the original container, which includes label showing student's name and correct dosage.
(3) A signed note from the parent/guardian must accompany the medication stating when the medicaiton is to be administered.
(4) With written parent/guardian consent, the school can provide the following non-prescription medications: Tylenol, Advil, Benadryl, and cough drops; if the nurse feels necessary. Permission slips are provided at school registration and are available in the Nurse office.
(5) Other non-perscription medications may be sent to the Nurse office, the above guidelines must be followed.
Immunization Policy:
State Law requires that all students must be immunized against diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, measles, rubella, polio, mumps, varicella, and hepatitus B. It is required by Indiana State Law, that no child will be permitted to attend school beyond the first day without a written immunization statement.
Accident Insurance for School-Aged Children:
The school carries no coverage on students and can make no payments to cover medical costs. Insurance is available as a courtesy to parents/guardians and is not sponsored by the school. The insurance plan offered covers accidents which require medical attention that happen at school and on the bus. The form is self-explanatory and is handed out at registration. Forms are also available in the school office.
