Covington High School Announcements

Activity Meeting today: Voting for homecoming court and attendants. You will be emailed a link.

Baseball workouts every Tuesday night at 6:00 P.M. in the wrestling room.

Any junior or senior wanting to attend Anchors needs to let Coach Field know so books can be ordered.

Winter homecoming is Friday, January 11th vs. Parke Heritage.

2018/2019 yearbooks are on sale. You can either visit yearbookforever.com or see Mr. Sowers for a paper order form. The price is $45 until December 21 when it goes up to $50.

Guidance:

Sophomores interested in Career Technical/Vocational Programs for next year – please complete the survey ASAP that Mrs. Myers emailed you on November 29th.

Juniors interested in Career Technical/Vocational Programs for next year – please complete the application that Mrs. Myers emailed you on November 29th.

Under federal law, virtually all men must register with the Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday. 17-year-old men can register early. Go to www.sss.gov to register.

Any student wanting to discuss a possible schedule change for second semester should see Mrs. Myers by the end of the day.

The 2019-2020 FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid) is now open. Any senior planning on continuing their education after high school should plan on filing the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

The SAT will be offered at Covington High School the morning of March 6th. The cost is $47.50, payable to Covington High School. There are fee waivers available for those students who qualify on a first come basis. Students planning on taking this test should sign-up in the guidance office and pay Mrs. Gee by Wednesday, January 9th.

Sports:

The JV/Varsity boys’ basketball game against Western Boone has been rescheduled for Saturday, 12/22. Game will still be played at Western Boone with the JV starting at 6 P.M.

The C team boys’ basketball game against Attica has been rescheduled for Thursday, 1/17, starting at 6 P.M. Game will still be played at Covington.

The C-team Bi-County tournament scheduled for December 20th has been cancelled.

The C team game against Crawfordsville scheduled for Tuesday, January 22nd has been cancelled

Other:

Free Winter Coat Distribution at the City Building from 8:00 to 4:00 pm weekdays while supplies last. Additional information is available at 793-3423.

Lunch today is Fish Sandwich on a Bun, Au Gratin Potatoes with Carrots.

6th grade boys basketball finished their season last night defeating Williamsport 42-10. B-team won 19-8. The A-team’s record was 15-0, and the B-team’s record was 9-0. Congratulations to all the players on a successful and undefeated season!

STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PURCHASE ANY PRODUCTS FROM ANY OF THE SODA MACHINES DURING LUNCH.

ATTENTION STUDENTS: You are not allowed to leave the cafeteria during lunch without permission.

REMINDERS:

If you are going on the DC trip, this is a reminder that the balance for your trip is due by January 25th.

Any 8th grade girl who would be interested in playing on the high school girl’s golf team next fall, sign up in the middle school office.

Attention: If you wear yoga pants…you must have a shirt long enough to cover your rear-end. If you don’t you will be sent to the office.

The City of Covington, has begun its annual Winter Coat Give-Away open 8:00 am to
4:00 pm (EST) weekdays, at the City Building, 1329 Second Street.

Free gently used and new coats for children and adults are being distributed on a first come,
first serve basis to area residents in need. The give-away will continue while the supply of coats
lasts.

The 2018 CHS “Hugs Not Drugs” Cheer Clinic will be on Saturday, December 15 from 10:30 – 1:00pm with registration/check in beginning at 10:00am in the MPR. Please join the cheerleaders for a morning full of cheer technique, jumps, and cheers. Participants will perform during the JV halftime on December 15. Registration forms are due November 27 to guarantee a T-shirt. Cost is $18.00.
