    Today

    Any student interested in serving on the Yearbook Staff should meet today in Mr. Craig
    Sower’s room during Homeroom.

    Freshmen student council members meeting during home room today in the
    Art Room.

    Today is the last day to sign up for the Senior Play. Any senior interested should sign up
    in Mrs. Willis’s room by the end of the day.

    There will be an FCA 5th quarter tonight after the football game at the complex. All high school and middle school students are welcome.

    Gold Rush Tailgate meal
    Friday, Sept. 13 at the Trojan Complex for any Trojan fan 4:45-6:15.
    $1/person. All food, drinks, table service provided. Bring your chairs and come eat!

    Welding Classes are cancelled on Monday, September 16.

    Juniors need to sign up for float building (sign up in office) . If nobody signs up-we will not be here.

    Those students who think they have earned enough points for an athletic jacket this fall need to see Mrs. Brown by the end of the day Friday, September 20th.

    “Any CHS student interested in swimming this winter needs to stop by Mr. McCormick’s office by next Monday (Sept. 16) for information.
    Anyone wishing to swim will be responsible for his/her own transportation to and from an alternate pool site for practices that is approximately 25-30 minutes away. Please keep this in mind when making your decision.”

    On Thursday, October 3rd, during Manufacturing Week, we will be taking juniors and seniors to MasterGuard in Veedersburg. The focus will be exploration of the various career options in manufacturing. We will leave the school at 12:40 and return by 2:20. Any interested junior or senior should sign-up in the guidance office by noon Friday, September 20th.

    Powder Puff Football sign-up sheets are in the high school office. This is for
    players and coaches.

    This Month

    Homecoming Parade: If you would like to place an entry in the Homecoming Parade,
    please contact or call the high school office 793-2286. Deadline date for entries
    is Wednesday, September 25. Lineup at the park at 4:30 and parade at 5:00

    he Covington Business Association has a new program – The Covington Business Association Ambassador. Any Covington Community High School junior or senior is eligible to apply. The selected student will serve as a volunteer at the Apple Fest, Ghost Walk and Magical Christmas. Upon successful completion of duties, the student will receive $500. This is a great way to gain volunteer experience. Please see Mrs. Myers for an application. Application deadline is September 20th.

    There is a Registration Form in the office for the Halloween Hustle 5K/10K on Saturday, October
    26 at 9:00 am at the Covington Circle Trail.

    The 2019 Yearbooks have arrived. Graduates may pick them up from Mrs. Gee.

    Student lounge Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday each week.

    The City of Covington is collecting new and gently used winter coats (adult and children
    sizes) for its annual coat give-away this fall.
    As before, we especially need children’s washable coats sizes infant
    through 16, and all sizes of coats for men and women.”
    Coats may be brought to the City Building, 1329 Second Street, between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm
    (EDT) weekdays. The city is also accepting monetary donations for the purchase of winter
    Coats.

    Guidance:

    SAT School Day will be Wednesday, October 16th (which is an E-Learning Day). Any senior interested in taking the SAT that morning at Covington High School should sign-up in the guidance office. The cost is $49.50. Checks should be made payable to Covington High School and given to Mrs. Linville. Fee Waivers are available if certain criteria are met – see Mrs. Myers with questions. The due date for registration and payment is September 18th.

    Any junior or senior interested in meeting with a representative from one of the following college should sign up on the google sheet that was shared with you from Mrs. Brown.
    Manchester University – Tuesday, October 8th during homeroom
    Franklin College – Monday, October 28th during homeroom

    Covington High School Athletic Department will be hosting the 1st Annual
    All Sports Golf Scramble on Sunday, September 22. Start time is 1:00.
    It is a Fundraiser to support all Covington High School and Middle School Athletic programs. Entry forms are available in the high school office.

    Colts Player Night/Tailgate meal tonight, Friday, Sept. 13 at the Trojan Complex for any Trojan fan 4:45-6:30.

    $1/person.  All food, drinks, table service provided.  Bring your chairs and come eat!  Players wear Colts jersey and get into game free.  Meet at North end of bleachers to make a tunnel for high school players before game.  Colts Players will also be introduced at halftime on the field.

    Applications are open for 2020 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, honoring students in grades 5-12 for making meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service.

    CMS students, if you have volunteered over the past year, consider applying for a 2020 award at www.spirit.prudential.com or nassp.org/spirit.  Student application deadline is November 5, 2019.

    Students: You are not allowed to stop at your lockers first thing in the morning unless you have permission from the office.

     Coat distribution will take place October 1st through January 31st from 8:00 am to

     4:00 pm (EST) weekdays, at the City Building, while coat supplies last.

     In 2018, the city distributed approximately 400 coats to area residents in need.

    CROSSING GUARDS WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM 7:45 – 8:00 IN THE MORNING. If you arrive at school after this time, please drive around to the front of the building to drop your child off for school. Car line and Walker doors are locked after 8:05a.m.

    BIRTH CERTIFICATES AND SHOT RECORDS are due in the office ASAP!

    REGISTRATION FORMS for the PK 4 year old class at CES are available. Students must be 4 years of age on or before August 1st.

    TRANSPORTATION CHANGES NEED TO BE SENT TO THE CHILD’S TEACHER. WE WILL NOT ALLOW STUDENTS TO CHANGE HIS/HER REGULAR ROUTINE WITHOUT A NOTE OR PHONE CALL TO THE OFFICE. THIS IS FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR CHILD/REN.

    When entering CES, please do so at the MAIN ENTRANCE ONLY and CHECK IN AT THE OFFICE. Thank you!

    TREATS BROUGHT IN FOR THE STUDENTS NEED TO BE PRE-PACKAGED FROM A STORE.

    BACKGROUND CHECKS for parents wanting to go on field trips can be obtained through the school website under the Superintendent’s tab. There is a fee for the process. Background checks are good for 2 years.

    For the safety and the enjoyment of all that attend Covington High School football games, Covington Elementary School students will not be allowed to run and play everywhere around the complex during games. If your child is not sitting in the bleachers, he/she will only be allowed to run and play in the grassy area north of the main home bleachers. Please understand this is not a supervised area. You are still responsible for the behavior and safety of your child. Thank you for your help in making sure our students stay safe and our fans enjoy the game.
